In this article, we will show you how to use Gemini Decompiler 2 5.zip to decompile and recompile an APK file on Windows. You will need the following tools:

  • Gemini Decompiler 2 5.zip, which you can download from here [^1^] or here [^2^].

  • An APK file that you want to decompile. For this example, we will use Google Maps.

  • A hex editor, such as HxD.

  • A Java Development Kit (JDK), such as Oracle JDK.

  • A text editor, such as Notepad++.

  • A zip utility, such as 7-Zip.

Follow these steps to decompile and recompile an APK file using Gemini Decompiler 2 5.zip:

  • Extract Gemini Decompiler 2 5.zip to a folder of your choice.

  • Copy the APK file that you want to decompile to the same folder.

  • Open Hex Editor and change the section name to 0x1768 from 0x1767 (See attached screenshot). Right click in the Hex window and change from 4 bytes to 8 bytes. If not, you will have to guess [^3^]. Save the changes and close the hex editor.

  • Double-click on Gemini.Decompiler.exe to launch the tool. You will see a window like this:

  • Select the APK file that you want to decompile and click on "Decompile". The tool will start decompiling the APK file and show you the progress in the console. When it is done, you will see a message like this:

  • You will find a folder named after the APK file in the same directory. This folder contains the decompiled source code, resources, and assets of the APK file. You can browse them using a text editor or an IDE.

  • If you want to modify the APK file, you can edit the files in this folder. For example, you can change some strings, images, colors, layouts, etc. Be careful not to break the functionality or compatibility of the app.

  • When you are done with your modifications, you can recompile the APK file by clicking on "Recompile". The tool will ask you for a certificate file and a password to sign the APK file. You can use any certificate file that you have or create one using keytool. For example, you can use this command to generate a certificate file named mycert.keystore with password mypass:

keytool -genkey -v -keystore mycert.keystore e0e6b7cb5c
